A Backpack and a Dream: Martha’s Journey to School

Date: April 22, 2025
Category: Stories of Change

In the quiet village of Bong County, 9-year-old Martha used to watch other children walk past her home each morning, books in hand, dreams in tow. Her parents, subsistence farmers, couldn’t afford the fees or supplies needed for school.

That changed when FORE launched its Scholarship and School Supply Drive, targeting underserved girls. Martha received a new backpack, books, and enrollment support. Now, she’s not just going to school—she’s excelling.

“Someday I want to be a nurse,” she says, beaming. “So I can help my village the way they helped me.”

Impact Insight: Since 2023, the program has supported over 350 girls across three counties with education access.
